Power Outage

Yesterday, 29 March 2012 - Eskom decided to leave us in the dark and disrupted the Electricity supply to the area from the early hours of the morning due to necessary repairs that had to be done. Yet they have done this without notice. We were in for one of those days where you encounter setback after setback, where things just dont seem to go smoothly, barring in mind that we have guests about to wake up for breakfast and a conference later the day. BUT we are always ready for any challenge thrown our way and we we welcomed this one with open arms!

We got out the candles, emergency battery operated lights and flashlights and after a short while of lighting up candles, getting batteries in place for the emergency lights, there was light. Time to bring out the gas stove and may I add, what a pleasure it was cooking on the gas stove. All went well with the conference, we had the generator started up and there was enough power supply to the conference room to the plug points and over-head projector. Conference lunch was prepared on the gas stove, a feast indeed everything was perfect and all the delegates had a cozy candlelit lunch, which was very pleasant for them. 

After a whole day with no power supply and very limited resources to work with, the day went extremely well and there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a smile on the faces of all your guests and thank you's from all around. That is always our goal - To put a smile on everyone's face, and once again we have lived up to our goal.
